Since people first worked in offices there has been a need to provide workers with access to coffee, tea and sugar. For decades the answer was a kettle and an oversized tin of International Roast on a counter in the staff kitchen.

In the 1970s and 80s if you worked in a fancy office you may have been fortunate to see the ‘Cafe-Bar’ attached to the wall. The sound of the ‘click click’ as people dispensed their coffee still haunts some of us in the office old enough to remember.

Heading into the 90s and early 00s it was all about the drip filter. While we don’t begrudge anyone a good French Roast (the technical term for dripolator coffee), we’re certainly happy that technology and demand helped retire most of these solutions from all bar conference venues and board rooms.


When Coffee Machine Express (or CME as we like to call it) opened its doors in 2004, it did so because we wanted to help offices everywhere embrace the ability to offer staff a barista quality coffee at the touch of a button.
