When you’ve been around as long as we have (15 years) you’re bound to have seen your fair share of changes.
Since 2004 we’ve moved offices, opened new offices, welcomed staff, said goodbye to others, changed machine suppliers and we’ve even had a change of owner.
Throughout it all though there have been a few things that have remained consistent.
To work with CME you have to be a certified ‘coffee snob’
(or at least be willing to learn how to screw your nose up and make the appropriate ‘tsk tsk’ noises when you hear coffee being made badly)
We ask all of our team members to ‘do what they say they’re going to do’.
That means if we say we’re going to touch base with you on Tuesday, you’ll hear from us on Tuesday. It’s not rocket science, but it continues to surprise us just how rare it is in suppliers these days.
If we can’t do something, or we don’t know, we’ll tell you.
We don’t have all the answers and sometimes as much as we’d like to we just can’t make things happen. When things like that happen we’d rather just be straight up and tell you. And if you ask something we don’t know, we’ll give you a genuinely puzzled look then do our best to go source an answer.
Our team need to know how to smile and have a conversation.
It bugs us when we see other contractors walking in and out of clients offices each day barely making eye contact and grunting like a neanderthal. Everyone at CME thinks a smile goes a long way and a chat on arrival never did anyone any harm
We believe in robust feedback and constructive criticism.
We have clients that have been with us for 10 years. The only way that happens is when you’re prepared to listen to what people have to say, take the criticism when things don’t go to plan and be prepared to do what’s fair. We should also say that we believe communication is a street that runs both ways, so we’re prepared to have difficult conversations with our clients if the need ever arises too.
Everyone at CME has to know their ‘stuff’ and be prepared to help out where needed.
We may have three offices across three states but at heart, we’re a pretty small team. So we expect everyone at CME to be really good at what they do and willing to help out wherever else they may be needed.
Our equipment has to be as good (or better) than our technicians.
We’ve rejected a number of equipment suppliers over the years because they didn’t ‘cut the mustard’. We work with people who are looking for reliability, consistency and performance. That’s what we expect from our coffee machines too.
Our technicians have to be qualified.
This is something we don’t budge on. Working with electricity, steam, water and computers can lead to some pretty serious outcomes for the uninitiated. So all of our technicians receive thorough training in all of our supplier’s equipment.
Any of our team visiting clients on site will complete any OHS or other industry training that’s required.

We’re not everyone’s cup of coffee
We’ve been doing this long enough to know not everyone wants to work with us, and that’s OK. There’s an old saying ‘you can’t be all things to all people’ and we’ve identified that there are some clients who, for whatever reason, we’re just not a good fit for. After 15 years we know pretty quickly if we can help you out, if we can’t, we’ll let you know we’re not your people so no one is wasting their time.
